Goodbye Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L USM, Hello f/2.8L USM

I had been somewhat happy with the Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L USM, but after using it a bit more, I found the f/4 to be somewhat limiting. To a number of people, the f/4L version is perfect, but to other people (such as myself), I found the f/4 to be too limiting of an aperture.

Fortunately, I was able to sell my f/4L for about how much I paid for it and picked up myself a Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L USM to replace it. I am definitely much more happy with the f/2.8L version as that 1 stop makes a world of difference! The interesting thing I noticed between the f/2.8L and the f/4L is that the f/4L has a single fluorite element for whatever reason but the f/2.8L doesn’t. Generally speaking, both lens are almost identical optically with the f/2.8L slightly beating out the f/4L, but its such a miniscue of a difference, it’s hardly worth mentioning.

This lens is definitely huge when mounted on my Canon EOS 400D/XTi, shoot, it looks huge on my dad’s Canon EOS 5D even!

Be on a lookout for my review on this lens.
